Contract Value: $2.5 Million

The FDA Central Utility Plant is part of a multi-building consolidated campus for the Food and Drug Administration located in Silver Spring, MD.  Pierce Associates did not perform the mechanical and plumbing installation for the original CUP, but was selected as the mechanical contractor for upgrades to the CUP, including two new gas turbine generators.

The scope of work for this project includes the mechanical piping associated with the installation of the two new gas turbine generators, two new gas compressors, three cooling towers, an absorption chiller and various pumps.  The scope also includes a significant amount of heavy-gauge metal work for the intake and exhaust ductwork at the gas turbine generators.  This scope of work was completed within an operating central utility plant, without service interruptions.
